Oriental Manicure salons offer various manicures as well. A manicure is a cosmetic beauty treatment for the fingernails and hands. A standard manicure includes shaping and filing of the nails along with the application of polish or French manicure plus any design of your choice. As part of the manicure, treatments for hands include soaking in a softening substance and application of hand lotion. The word “manicure” comes from the Latin manus, which means hand and cura which means care.

The process for a manicure begins with ensuring that the working area and tools are sanitized and conveniently located. This might include sanitizing the working surface such as a table top, and by placing the cleaned implements into a container of sanitizing liquid, and by having sanitized towels and such near the working area. Normally a manicure starts with the sanitization of the costumer’s hands. Artificial nails or old nail polish is removed. The hands are then washed thoroughly with soap and hot water and rinsed with hot water.

During the next phase of a manicure, the fingernails are then trimmed and filed to the desired length and shape using a fingernail file. The cuticles are then pushed back with a cuticle pusher, dry and dead skin around cuticles are removed and cleaned. To conclude the manicure the manicurist applies at least one layer of either clear polish meant to strengthen weak nails or several layers of color polish and topcoat. A manicure is finished with a hand massage using hand lotion.

Most Oriental Manicure salons also offer a hot oil manicure. A hot oil manicure is a specific type of manicure that cleans the cuticles and softens them with oil. It works well for dry skin and nails that are brittle as it improves both by leaving them soft and pliable. Types of oils that can be used are mineral oil, olive oil or commercial preparation in an electric heater. A hot oil manicure is always recommended for persons with extremely dry skin and nails. (All parts of regular manicure are included in hot oil manicure).

Many Oriental Manicure salons offer paraffin treatments. These consist of the hands or feet being dipped in melted paraffin. This is meant to impart heat to the hand or foot for the purposes of relaxing the skin and making it better able to absorb lotion, which is sometimes rubbed on the hand or foot before submersion into the paraffin. The hand or foot is usually dipped more than once to allow a thicker wax coat to form, allowing coating to stay warm for a longer period of time and therefore less likely to tear or break prematurely. After the hands and feet have been dipped in the wax they are wrapped in either plastic or tin foil, then covered with cloth to retain warmth. The paraffin is left on the hands and feet for a few minutes to cool and dry. Paraffin wax can be infused with various botanical ingredients such as azulene, tea tree oil, chamomile, and Aloe Vera.
